Remixing... Really!!!!

During this week’s class we watched a clip from the TV show “The Colbert Report”. It was a one sided argument about the difference between copy right and “remixing”. I am personally on Mr. Colbert’s side and think that there is not a difference between Remixing and taking credit for the work and using someone’s work and not siting the source of the material. The link for the video is http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/215454/january-08-2009/lawrence-lessig. This video is quite comical and will make you laugh. But I feel as though Lawrence Lessig, does not have any point that remixing and not giving credit to the original should be right. I am sure that if someone used his book and added clips of comics to it, then claimed they “Remixed” it without giving him credit, he would have a lawsuit drawn up really quickly. With all of this said, remixing is kind of cool but I still believe that the work should be sighted. I am sure that there is a lot more content about it in his book but from the overview I see and from the arguments he is trying to make in his interview, he does not make very good points, he seem to contradict himself. This is my rant for the week see you all for the last class tomorrow night!!!

Generation F

I do not see this effecting my work environment very much at all. I work in manufacturing and there seems to be a set Hierarchy in the order of things that seems to work very well. Maybe when I become higher u in the chain of command this might change things a little with the way I deal with people and their expectations, but as far as the structure of the company I work for I do not see it changing very much. I think it will change the way small businesses are ran for sure. I am going to call this a theory of Generation F because I feel that is what it is. With that said I suppose this theory could affect my life. I think that this may have caused me to be so motivated to move up within the company I work for. I do feel that I become bored with my job very easily and this causes me to want more. This could run right along with the theory of Generation F. Again thank you for reading my rant.

Podcasting

I have not done my pod cast yet and have found it difficult to find a topic to talk to myself about and post it to the internet about. I do have a few thoughts about podcasting that I would like to express. First thought would be I believe that podcasting is a little out dated. My first point is that I believe that vloging and youtube.com has outdated this type of way to express your thoughts through the internet. Sure like everything there is a time and place where everything can be used. The second point is, I really don’t like when people ramble on about nonsense. It really bothers me when people just ramble on and on about nothing. I like to call this circle time, and it just frustrating. Well this is my rant for the week, see you again soon.

Animate This!!!

My intention for my video seemed to come out very clear at least it seems like it to me. I believe that Xtranormal has a good site and is easy to use. The only thing I would recommend hey try to fix is the wait time to preview dialog. I had time to go back to the school site, in a new tab, and to look up what was required for the assignment while waiting for it to say “Hello my name is Stitch.” I think that overall my video was a success; I do feel that there could be more to the video but there was only so much that could be done with the free 300 xp points. Which brings me to my next point, there should be more free points give to the free accounts 300 is a very low ball for an internet company operating in the cloud. I don’t think I would change my project if I had to do it again I like the overall outcome of my video and I think it is as good as I could make it.

Again With the Copy Right Bull $h!t

I do believe that the lawsuit on Shepard Fairey is a fair case on AP’s side. Shepard Fairey used an image that was copy righted by AP (Associate Press) without any sort of permission. I believe that it ended up working out for both sides in the end, both of which ended up profiting from it. But never the less, AP copy righted the picture and covered their side. Shepard Fairey used this photo and altered it without their permission and violated copyright laws, and in turn should have been punished for it.

Present HUT!!!

I really liked Hans Rosling’s presentation. It was very interactive and it caught your attention through the whole thing. There was a ton of information in it and he seemed very knowledgeable about all of the material. I used two different presentation tools to create rough drafts for this class. I first used Lotus Symphony by IBM and it was very hard to navigate for me. I am not quite sure if it because I am not familiar with IBM software or what but it took me forever to create a simple four page slide show. I then used a Google program called Google Drive that seemed to be very useful. It took me a quarter of the time to crate the same slide show with a lot more effects being utilized. I could not however add an animation without upgrading the program which it kind of disappointing, but that is how it goes. My presentations are on my ePorfolio and can be viewed there thanks to Box.com, I used Box.com to embed my presentations to my ePorfolio.

Screencast Who'd A Thunk It?

Screencasting can be a very useful tool to the right people. I believe it is easy to use and the program I used for the assignment was very user friendly. I used Jing to do my assignment, and it only took me between 15 to 20 minutes to do my screencast and upload it to sceencast.com. I do believe that I will use this tool again especially when I get to do a more office oriented job. I think take more companies should use this type of software to help people solve problems with things such as, computer problems and presentations. This is one of the better tools that I can see becoming more popular in the feature. It is this kind of stuff that makes you wonder what is next. Can they improve on this or is this as god as it gets? I can’t imagine that it could be improved but I'm sure someone somewhere is working on it as I am typing this.
